Over the last few weeks we have been getting dumped on with snow and it has been pretty difficult to get around on the lakes unless you are using something with tracks. Recently we have had a few warmer days and received some rain which has greatly improved our travel conditions. The snow has settled down quite a bit but I would still suggest snowmobiles or atvs with tracks to get around, but truck travel will be possible soon unless we get more snow. There is still around 2 feet of good ice on the lake. Access points and inlets will start to deteriorate first from sand, salt, and moving water. Stay safe and check ice conditions as you go.
I have still been finding crappies and bluegills cruising over basin areas, but they will start to migrate toward shallow areas to find food and get a little closer to spawning areas. Weeds have mostly died off with all the snow cover but if you can find some standing weeds panfish will be found in the area.
Small spoons tipped with wigglers or wax worms have been working great but jigs with small plastics or worms will also produce fish.
Get out there and give it a shot. If you would like more information or to book a trip contact us at:
